Earlier this week, Silverado leaders had an opportunity share the company's story at the Guzman 23 Foundation Charity Golf Tournament in the greater Dallas area. We support the fundraising event every year, and were proud that associates from each of our service lines — At Home, Hospice and Communities — represented us this year.
Four Silverado residents were able to participate in the event, which took place at Trophy Club Country Club. One resident with dementia, Betty, had never golfed in her life. She shared, "My husband and kids did all the golfing. I got their clothes ready and supported them, but that was their game."
This week, we put a putter in Mrs. Bettye's hands and, after a little coaching, she achieved no less than three "in the cup" shots. Betty moved into Silverado Turtle Creek in 2012, and since then has lived life to the fullest. She is the facilitator of the communitiy's morning exercise class, she heads up cooking club and she even visits residents who are in the hospital.
Her experience at the golf tournament was truly amazing. Thank you to the Guzman 23 Foundation for all you do!
