Silverado Hospice Receives Advocacy Award
Recognition for achievements in representing the wider hospice community
While providing compassionate hospice care is the main focus of Silverado Hospice, advocacy and awareness are also important parts of what we do. Ensuring that the entire hospice community is represented with legislators helps make certain that hospice care is available to those who need it and that high standards of service are kept. This passion for hospice advocacy has allowed us to bring our message to key members of congress, and we are proud to announce that our efforts have been recognized.
During the annual Advocacy Intensive held in Washington, DC, June 16-17, 2014, Silverado Hospice was awarded the Hospice Action Network's Advocacy Innovator Award for outstanding grassroots advocacy on behalf of the hospice community. The award recognizes Silverado Hospice’s outstanding efforts, leadership and dedication in advocating for the hospice and palliative care industry in front of key members of Congress.
Among the notable achievements contributing to our recognition are:
- More than 18 site visits from Congressional members since 2013
- Development of community advocacy models with other local hospices
- Establishing email communications and quarterly check-ins with Legislators on a variety of policy topics
- Sharing critical information with the Hospice Action Network about our advocacy efforts
