Silverado communities have experienced extraordinary growth over the past year. We started with 23 communities at the beginning of 2013 and by the time we rang in 2014, we reached a new milestone — 30 memory care communities across eight states.

I’m incredibly proud of each team responsible for bringing these communities into the Silverado family. Every time we embark on a new project, our goal is to ensure that Silverado’s staff, care and culture — particularly the feeling residents and their families get when they step into one of our communities — is at the heart of each new community.

From three acquired communities in the greater Chicago area to grand openings celebrated in Texas, Wisconsin and Illinois — giving life and changing the lives of our residents, families and associates is most important to us. Our strong, purpose-driven culture is what truly creates the best quality of life possible, through their end of life. And our outcomes remain the best in the industry, which also results in cost savings with reduced visits to the ER and appropriate medication reductions.

Families have described their journey and Silverado experience as being the “lighthouse in a storm.” When we hear a comment like this, it inspires us to continue our mission to enrich lives.

In the year ahead, I am excited for the opportunity to change even more lives when three new communities will open — one in Peoria, Arizona and two others in Fort Worth, and Bee Cave, Texas. As Silverado’s expansion continues, so does our passion for changing the way the world cares for people with memory impairments.

I wish you all a wonderful 2014!
