Alix Norton Joins the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Fundraising Efforts

Recently, a Silverado family member, Alix Norton, demonstrated her dedication to her father’s condition by getting involved in her community as a participant in the 2014 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Brighton, Michigan. Alix even created a special webpage for others to join her team and donate to Alzheimer’s research.

Once her father was diagnosed with early-onset dementia, Alix was inspired to work with the local community to draw awareness to Alzheimer’s — a disease that currently affects more than five million Americans.

“Though this has been the most difficult struggle that my family has ever encountered, I've learned how much it helps to know that my family and I have a support system in our extended family, friends, and organizations like the Alzheimer's Association," shares Alix. "My dad has been living in a residential facility called Silverado for the past year and a half, which is one of the absolute best facilities in the nation…We know that he is in good hands, and we’re able to visit him all the time."

She hopes to be able to raise awareness to the disease and collect donations to help the Association advance research into treatment and eventually a cure.

At Silverado, we love to see how our family members are helping to raise awareness, and we hope this story inspires others to get involved too!
