Care Through the Holidays

The holidays are an excellent time to reflect on the year and look ahead at what’s next. Even more importantly, they are a time to gather with our families, to be thankful, reminisce and make new memories.

For Silverado At Home, the word "family" sometimes takes on a different meaning. Our Personal Attendants and Caregivers become, in many cases, extended members of the families they serve. We consider it an honor and a privilege that our clients and their families share these special times of year with us, and in turn, we do our best to help honor their traditions and create happy memories.

One of our Personal Attendants, Maria, shared her experience and thoughts about one of her clients:

“This is my first holiday working with Ms. M., and I’m looking forward to it. I have bonded with her, and she is always so polite and inviting to me. I know that being surrounded by people that love her, myself included, this holiday season will make her very happy. I am looking forward to caring for Ms. M. this holiday and sharing special times with her and her beautiful family.”

Oftentimes families say they could never do what our Personal Attendants do. The idea of caring for their loved one and performing so many challenging tasks seems daunting. During the holidays, Silverado At Home staff is particularly proud to help families remember special days just as family members and not caretakers.

We pause for a moment this holiday season to share our gratitude with all of the amazing volunteers and associates who work tirelessly to enrich the lives of our clients, residents, patients and their families. They are the heartbeat of Silverado and the reason we are
able to enrich lives every day. Thank you!
