Children and Normalilzation

Russ, a resident of Silverado Naperville, who suffers from frontotemporal dementia was making his usual rounds of walking the large community when he passed a meeting in progress. Russ who rarely converses walked into the meeting and said to one of the nurses, "I am going to sit down right here".  The nurse who was thrilled to hear him speaking was more than happy to include Russ in her meeting. So Russ sat down and looked around the table when he then saw a little two-month-old baby across the table from him.  Russ stood up walked around the table to sit by the baby who was laying on the table. He then sat down and just started gently rubbing the baby's back. Upon this the baby's pacifier fell out. Russ without missing a beat instinctively put it right back in the baby's mouth. The moment was magical, the others in the room teared up and smiled. This is just one of the many positive intergenerational stories that happen every day in our community.
